I own 2 C350 - 2010 and 2012. I almost never use the sunroof.
The sunroof work pretty good still. My question is Dealer told me I need a smaill bottle for seal
and the paste for the gear. Do I really need OEM ? Some say if I don't use OEM I might run into
issue after. I am in Canada so we have - 20C to even - 38C in winter time here.
I watch your video but nit very clear. Some only apply the paste inside the track and there are 2 tracks.
one for the shade and one for the roof. Please advice
In Alberta Canada here the winter temp. is around -20 to -38C. So I am a little bit worry the aftermarket paste or grease will hold. I hardly use the sunroof not even 5 times.
And I think I never do any clean/maint to the roof for 10-12 years and I open it last week is still working and nice and clean inside. I better put some grease on just in case.
Thanks for the reply.
A silicon paste or grease is ok to lube the sunroof track. The OEM is the silicon grease too. I have use the aftermarket silicon grease to maintenance the sunroof for 20 years without any issue. Don't worry about it.
